If you have some extra time while visiting Melbourne, definitely take a road trip on the Great Ocean Road. You can either rent your own vehicle or campervan or take a one day guided tour from Melbourne.
Spectacular scenery and cute little coastal towns are scattered along the road as well as some of [...]

Holi, also called the Festival of Colours, is a popular Hindu spring festival observed in India, Nepal,Bangladesh, and countries with large Hindu diaspora such as Suriname, Guyana, South Africa, Trinidad, the UK, Mauritius and Fiji. In West Bengal of India and Bangladesh it is known as Dolyatra (Doul Jatra) or Basanta-Utsab (“spring festival”). The most [...]
I just checked your travel plans and seens like you have never travelled. You just can not make it in such speed uless you have a very superficial view of each place even if you going very fast it seens like very dificult task.No way you can go Japan, korea, China and Vietnan in one month, only tour groups do it. I have been travelling the world for more than 20 years and you can check with other experienced travellers. It is not worth going many places so fast.
Best Luck

Thanks for the comment Rick. We are updating the above with a rough itinerary, nothing written in stone and we are willing to deviate, but our initial thought is to layout where we want to go with some date parameters. Initially we have set 10 days for each country, understanding we can add/subtract as needed.
That is a great question though, and I would appreciate your insight. How do you go about the planning process, determining what countries, when you will be there and so on?
Would love to get yours and others thoughts! You’re right, we’ve never done the round the world type trip before, although we have traveled quite a bit. Admittedly, we tend to be the “see and do as much as you can” type folks.
Glad to see you found A Map for saturday, I travelled with Brook for a month while he was filming his next doco..
this schedule is crazy!
September: Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam
October: Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia
The first time I was in SE Asia, I did 2 months : thailand, cambodia, laos, Vietnam. I had to take a couple of flights to make it work.. it was RAPID!
4 months would be better.
you would want at least 3 weeks for Japan.
1 – 2 months for china..
etc,
are you gone a full 12 months? The problem then is if you want more time somewhere, you have less time somewhere else as the ticket has to be used in 12 months.
