Recently renovated and very hip, Sawasdee House is a perfect stay for the late night owl partying into the wee hours. Located a street away from KSR on Soi Rambuttri, you would imagine it to be quiet, but no – this house “is never closed”! We fell in love instantly with the cable television, fluffy pillows, lush comforters and open air private bath – but it wasn’t until late night – very late – around 3am when the music didn’t stop – that we wished we could plug our ears with our fists.
Once you learn to take pills to drown out the late night techno, the hostel itself is very modern, clean and well located. We enjoyed the 20+ english channels and showered with a great view of the chaos and with the fragrant sweet smells of the hookah bubbling below.
Cost: A week rental is 650B per night for a double if you pay in advance.
Internet: Like most places in Bangkok, internet was not free – 10B for 15 mins here and 60B per hour for wireless.
Laundry: 50B per kilo. A short 3 min walk puts you at a place that will clean your dirty clothes for 25B / kilo in a day.
