Having a campervan is an added plus here in New Zealand, since you can just pick up go to another remote destination and your kitchen and bedroom are with you!

We found one of the best camping spots, in the middle of the park with a perfect view of the glaciers and could see thousands of brilliant stars in the clear night sky. Amidst the snow peaked mountains, drawn through the landscape by God himself, we couldn’t help but feel frivolous among the marvels.
Although it was fiercely windy, the next morning we set out to do a short hike (3 hours return) to the glacial river. As always, Terry the risk taker decided to jump onto the icebergs to get the ‘best shot’ and almost fell to his death into the freezing waters.
Lake Tekapo was really only one of the places where our mouths actually dropped agape. The vivid and intense sun rays were shining on the infamous milky blue glacier waters (that color due to the fine glacier dust particle reflections) so flawlessly, that it created the most startling and mind blowing radiant azure lake. We decided to take a dip in the bitter sub zero temperatures for a total of 30 seconds before our toes turned blue, but it was totally worth it!
One of our favorite places in New Zealand!
