Lake Taupo | New Zealand :: Queenstown of the North Island

Lake Taupo is the North Island’s answer to Queenstown in the South, where there are adventure seeker activities galore and a beautiful blue lake for water activities and mountains close by for skiing. We happened to be in town during the annual Iron Man triathlon competition and we able to see some amazing athletes swim, run and bike all through town!

We also got another chance to catch up with fellow around the world travelers, Nick and Andree, whom we first met during Week 2 on the ferry crossing from Osaka to Shanghai, then again diving in Koh Tao, Thailand! We hope to meet up again in their hometown of London. Safe travels guys!
